St Patrick came to Ireland as a captured slave from Roman Brittan; he escaped but returned in the Mid 5thCentury to Christianise Ireland. We will explore a range of monuments associated with his holy mountain. Including the Boheh Stone, (also known as St. Patrick’s Chair), a Neolithic Rock Art Site, reused in the 5th century as a small monastery grew up around it. It is one of the top five Rock Art Sites in these islands. A spectacular Stone Alignment on the shores of Clew Bay and the ancient graveyard at Killadoon. Heading to Killary Harbour we will stop at a Bronze Age Wedge Tomb, re-used as a Mass Rock and return to Connemara along the spectacular Killary Fjord.
